BS in Biology – Southern Connecticut State University
A Connecticut native, my life has been framed by a split interest in the arts and sciences. I began my college career studying traditional fine art, developing the skills I would later use to create biological illustrations. Desiring an outlet for my scientific curiosity, I transitioned into the study of biology. I became fascinated by vector biology while working as a research assistant at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station’s Tick Testing Laboratory. My research interests involve vector-borne disease systems, specifically in how anthropogenic environmental changes effect disease transmission. In the Grubaugh lab I participate in the ongoing quest to better understand COVID-19 by contributing to the Saliva Direct program.
When out of the lab, I enjoy making art, adding to my insect collection, and (COVID-19 notwithstanding) attending renaissance fairs and fan conventions.
